Stock Post-Care Supplies
Make sure you have all post-care supplies prior to your treatment.

Anticipate Downtime
You may experience redness, swelling, or mild peeling for 7–14 days. Downtime varies depending on the treatment area and your skin’s healing response, but most patients notice visible improvement as the skin recovers.

No Sun Exposure
Avoid sun exposure starting 4 weeks before treatment, and do not schedule your appointment if you have an active sunburn.

Prep Your Skin
Continue a good skin prep routine, starting 4 weeks before your appointment.

Photosensitizing Medications
Avoid photosensitizing medications for at least 2 weeks before your treatment to prevent increased skin sensitivity or irritation.
4 weeks prior
Stop tanning
Cease sun exposure, tanning beds, and artificial tans 4 weeks prior to treatment.
7 days prior
Stop using Harsh skin chemicals
Discontinue harsh chemicals, depilatories, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic and salicylic acids, and astringents for 1 week before and after treatment.
2 weeks prior
No dental work
Please avoid scheduling dental work, cleanings, or procedures within two weeks before or after your injectable treatment. Dental work can introduce bacteria into the bloodstream or cause inflammation, which may increase the risk of infection or unwanted swelling at the injection sites.

Take medicine
Take only approved and required medicine as directed.
2 weeks prior
Stop smoking
No smoking of nicotine products a minimum of 2 weeks before the treatment. If you do smoke, please be aware that smoking increases the risk for poor wound healing and may delay your healing process.

Stop Anti-inflammatory Medications
No aspirin, ibuprofen, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, blood thinners, vitamin E, fish oil, herbal supplements, garlic, or any medications containing these or anything that may thin your blood, 14 days before surgery.
2 weeks prior
No Vaccinations
Cannot receive a vaccination 4 weeks prior to treatment.
2 weeks prior
No Recent Illness
If you’ve had a cold, flu, or any illness within two weeks of your appointment, please contact us to reschedule. Receiving injectable treatments while your immune system is compromised can increase the risk of side effects and delay healing.
7 days prior
Avoid Blood Thinners
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, or supplements which may thin your blood (i.e. vitamin e, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, etc.) for 7 days before treatment. These agents may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. Tylenol is ok.

Drink Water
The week before treatment, drink plenty of water.

Eat Healthy
Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, avoid extreme diets and alcohol.
2 days prior

Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before your treatment.

Pre-treat cold sores
If you’re prone to cold sores: Please pre-treat with an antiviral medication starting 2 days before your appointment. If you have an active cold sore, your treatment will need to be rescheduled.

No Caffeine
No caffeine 24 hours before your treatment.

Post injection, ensure that your pillowcase, bedding and anything else your face may have contact with is clean and freshly laundered.

Talk with your treatment provider to make sure you are a good candidate and set realistic expectations.

No makeup
Please come to your appointment without makeup as we will ask you to wash your face prior to injections.

Wash Yourself
Wash yourself including your hair the evening before or the morning of surgery. Do not use any styling products or sprays. Please reference the bathing directions provided to you and use Hibiclens /CHG.

Arrive in proper attire
Surgery day, wear loose-fitting clothes that fasten at the front. No slipover clothing.

Remove False Eyelashes
False eyelashes need to be removed.
day of
No Deodorant
Do not wear deodorant or lotions, especially on the chest and torso.
day of
No Contacts
You may wear glasses but do not wear contact lenses to your surgery.
