Microneedling Post-Care Instructions

OVERVIEW

Following your SkinPen Microneedling treatment, it’s normal to experience mild redness, tenderness, or slight swelling—similar to a light sunburn. Some patients may also notice minimal flaking or dryness as the skin begins to renew. These effects typically subside within three to five days, revealing a smoother, brighter complexion.

Clean Laundry

Microneedling creates micro-injuries (tiny open channels) in the skin. These channels are susceptible to bacteria, dirt, and other irritants that can accumulate on unwashed towels, pillowcases, and sheets. Using clean laundry minimizes the risk of introducing bacteria into your skin, which could lead to an infection or a rash, and helps optimize the healing process.

Wait to Wear Makeup

You can start wearing makeup again 24–48 hours after treatment. Be sure to remove it gently using a mild cleanser.

Wear Sunscreen

Wear sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher.

Use the post-care serums provided by your injector.

Avoid active skincare products such as retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliating treatments for 7 days after your appointment to allow your skin to heal comfortably and achieve the best results.

Do not allow sun exposure for 2 weeks. If you must be in the sun, you must wear a hat and sunscreen SPF 50.

Do not exercise or partake in any strenuous activity, or heavy exercise for the next 24-48 hours.
