If you want to add volume to your face but you’re tired of coming in for filler injections every few months, biostimulators are the answer. Bellafill and Sculptra are the longest-lasting dermal fillers on the market! Biostimulators give you the instant results you’ve come to love from other fillers and guarantee volume for years by stimulating your natural collagen production.
BOOK NOWREQUEST APPOINTMENTBiostimulators are safe and effective dermal fillers that stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production for long-term results. Unlike Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers, which last 6-24 months depending on the product, Bellafill works in two ways. First, the collagen gel injections placed under the skin immediately fill the wrinkle and create a smoother, plumped appearance. Over time your body absorbs the collagen gel, leaving behind tiny microspheres that stimulate your skin cells to make collagen for 2-5 years in the injection area. This collagen foundation adds soft, smooth volume for long-term results.
Biostimulators are an exceptional product for smoothing lines and wrinkles and adding volume to cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles. They are also excellent for reducing the appearance of acne scars and for use in non-surgical rhinoplasty.
Biostimulators last so much longer than traditional fillers because they contain different active ingredients. Most fillers are made with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that only acts as a facial-volume substitute. Biostimulators, on theater hand, contain collagen-stimulating microspheres that address the underlying cause of facial aging—collagen loss. This means that long after the initial injectable has dissipated, the microspheres are ramping up collagen to plump the area you have injected.
Every dermal filler appointment at The Esthetics Center begins with a consultation with Dr. Rice or one of our skilled nurses to discuss your goals and concerns. We will also assess your medical history during this consultation to help choose the appropriate treatment and product. Before beginning any injections or other treatments, we will take before and after pictures to track your progress towards achieving your goals. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, you will be out the door and able to resume normal activities within 30-60 minutes, with just a few instructions for aftercare.
Most patients find dermal filler injections quite tolerable, but we are happy to offer additional measures to ensure you are comfortable during your Bellafill treatment. You can expect topical icing and injected lidocaine numbing to the treatment area. In addition to this, some of our patients choose to utilize our Nitrous Oxide system (laughing gas). These measures result in the most comfortable patient experience possible.
Biostimulators are the ideal filler for anyone who wants to add soft, natural-looking volume to areas of the face such as the cheeks, temples, chin and jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles. Biostimulators are also great for smoothing acne scars and creating contour along the nose in non-surgical rhinoplasties. Because biostimulators promote collagen production over time, results are long-lasting and incredibly natural-looking. Biostimulators are not for use in the tear troughs or lips and aren’t necessarily as “predictable” as other HA fillers. Depending on your goals and concerns, an HA filler may be the better choice. But we love to work with our patients to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
No, biostimulators are known for creating soft, natural-looking results. They stimulate your skin cells to produce collagen over time, which is what makes biostimulators so long-lasting. As some of the softest and most natural fillers we have found, we recommend them for those patients who want subtle but beautiful results. Furthermore, our goal is never to make people look unnatural or overdone. As the saying goes, “The best injectable is undetectable.”
Yes! Biostimulators have been around for a long time and have been extensively studied. Bellafill has proven safe in the largest and longest prospective dermal filler study ever completed. As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, the most important thing you can do is make sure you see a licensed and trained professional. Doing so ensures that you are getting high-quality products and that they are being injected correctly.
The main side effects of any injectable treatment are bruising, redness, swelling, and mild discomfort during the healing phase, typically lasting approximately seven days.
Aftercare for biostimulators is minimal. However, following a few simple suggestions can help minimize your downtime and discomfort. We recommend you refrain from using makeup or skincare products on the day of treatment. You should not engage in heavy exercise for 24 hours. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated will also decrease swelling.
There are also some things to avoid before your treatment to minimize discomfort and bruising. This includes stopping any food, supplement, or medication that thins your blood, including ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, flaxseed, and alcohol. In addition, you may use arnica supplements before the treatment and during the recovery phase to minimize bruising and swelling. If you are unsure if something you are taking might interfere with your treatment, please call our office, and we will be happy to assist you.
