The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid (DA). Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. The Kybella treatment consists of two parts—consultation and the procedure. In some cases, we can do both parts in one appointment. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have and your desired result. The procedure itself takes only 15-20 minutes, and then you can go home with just a few simple instructions to minimize discomfort and swelling.
After your Kybella injections, you can expect substantial swelling for several days. The swelling will typically subside around 48 hours following your treatment, but mild bruising and tenderness are also expected side effects.
