BOOK NOWREQUEST APPOINTMENTThermiVa utilizes radio-frequency (RF) energy to gently warm the vaginal tissue and external labia for the purpose of vaginal rejuvenation. ThermiVa treatments are quick, non-surgical, and non-ablative. The treatment is useful in addressing common gynecological concerns such as urinary incontinence, lack of vaginal moisture, and skin laxity—all of which are common side effects of pregnancy, hormonal changes during perimenopause, menopause, and the natural process of aging. Over a series of three to five sessions, you can expect a noticeable improvement in urinary and sexual function.
We understand that vaginal rejuvenation is an intimate procedure. We offer this service in a discrete and comfortable environment by trained medical professionals who understand that urinary incontinence and diminished sexual satisfaction can have a strong impact on a patient’s happiness. Our patients routinely report improved urinary and sexual health following treatment, allowing them to live more confidently every day. This is why we are proud to offer ThermiVa at Esthetics Center.
During a ThermiVa treatment, a gel will be applied to the treatment area to conduct heat. Next, a narrow wand will be guided over the internal and external vaginal area to deliver radio-frequency (RF) energy to the subdermal layer of tissue. This will gently heat the tissue, which serves to promote cell turnover and collagen production. Generally, 3-5 treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and a single treatment takes 30 minutes. We also recommend a follow-up treatment once per year to maintain results. Unlike surgical procedures or ablative laser treatments, there is no recovery or downtime with ThermiVa, and you may resume normal activities the same day.
You will notice some improvement approximately 4-6 weeks after your first treatment. However, the production of new collagen in your body requires time, so optimal results are achieved within 4-6 weeks of your last treatment. Results should last approximately one year, and then we recommend one maintenance treatment each year.
Most patients tolerate ThermiVa very well, reporting that it is warm but not hot. Some describe it as similar to sitting in a warm bath. It is non-ablative, meaning that it will not damage the surface tissue or cause injury that requires aftercare. The wand that delivers the RF energy is slim and thoughtfully designed for comfort. It also includes a temperature gauge and grounding pad to ensure that the heat remains constant and at the ideal therapeutic temperature. We also strive to provide a soothing and discrete treatment environment to maximize your comfort.
Treatments that utilize RF technology are safe and very common in dermatology and esthetic medicine for stimulating collagen production naturally. Side effects are only minor and can include temporary swelling and redness. Ideal patients have minor incontinence, laxity, and dryness. ThermiVa should not be used on anyone who is pregnant, has a fever or skin infection in or around the treatment site, or who has had an irregular PAP smear. Most patients can resume daily activities right away and are very pleased with their results.
With a 95% Worth It rating from RealSelf and positive feedback from patients and providers in our practice and across the country, we are confident that you will love your ThermiVa results. It can help to solve multiple concerns simultaneously, including incontinence, lubrication, and skin laxity. Many patients are pleasantly surprised to find that there are additional benefits beyond what they were aiming to fix in the first place. For example, a patient who might originally seek treatment to improve minor incontinence might also find that she has also benefitted from vaginal tightening and increased lubrication. Urinary and sexual health both have a significant impact on the confidence of our patients, and we would be more than happy to discuss your individual concerns. We encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our nurses.
