Skin inevitably accumulates damage and wear through the years. Erbium laser resurfacing is the perfect treatment for anyone wanting to reverse those signs of damage and aging without the downtime of a CO2 laser. The Erbium laser removes damage so that a fresh, new layer of skin can emerge. It rejuvenates your skin for a youthful, healthy-looking face, neck, chest, and even hands.
BOOK NOWREQUEST APPOINTMENTErbium laser resurfacing removes old skin cells that are aged and damaged, making room for healthy new cells to grow in their place. It is a fully ablative treatment, meaning it targets and removes all of the skin cells in the treatment area. A fully-ablative laser renews and refreshes your skin in just one treatment. In addition to removing old skin cells, the Erbium laser stimulates collagen production to rebuild tissue from the inside out; this means plump, youthful skin with replenished volume. Erbium is an excellent treatment for challenging skin issues like hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Erbium laser resurfacing safely and effectively treats all of the areas that give away your age: the face, neck, chest, and back of the hands.
Every skin journey at The Esthetics Center begins with a consultation with one of our skilled nurses to discuss your goals and concerns. We will also assess your medical history during this consultation to ensure your safety. Before beginning any treatments, we will take before and after pictures to track your progress towards achieving your goals.
We will start the treatment by cleaning the skin. We will then apply a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area to ensure that you are completely comfortable during the procedure. Once the medication has set in, we will wipe the skin clean and place laser shields over your eyes. Depending on how many areas we treat, the laser session will take approximately 90 minutes. Once the treatment is complete, we will apply a medicated balm to moisturize and promote healing. Before you leave, we will walk you through proper aftercare and answer any questions.
We take measures to ensure that your experience is as comfortable as possible. We start the treatment by applying topical numbing cream for about 30 minutes. Nitric Oxide (laughing gas) and ice are available throughout the process, should you want it. Most patients report mild to no discomfort during treatment, thanks to these measures.
Erbium laser resurfacing is a very patient-friendly procedure that is available and appropriate for most patients looking to renew damaged skin. If your skin is damaged or aged, you are likely a perfect candidate for laser skin resurfacing. Our medical staff will answer all your questions and tailor your procedure to your needs and concerns.
Yes! As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, the most important thing you can do is make sure you see a licensed and trained medical professional. Your appointment will include a discussion of your medical history, and the treatment site will be thoroughly examined. These measures ensure that you are getting the most effective treatment and that you understand the minor risks and complications that may pertain to your individual case.
The recovery period for any laser resurfacing largely depends on the amount of treatment you need and the severity of your situation. A major draw of Erbium laser resurfacing is that although it is a fully-ablative treatment, there is far less recovery than with other lasers such as the CO2 laser. This is because it is a more focused laser that creates less damage to surrounding tissue. The Erbium laser recovery period may last four to 7 days. In that time, you may experience redness, swelling, and peeling.
Proper skin care and sun protection are vital after treatment. Your nurse will give you additional aftercare instructions at your appointment.
You will begin to see results within a week or two of your treatment. But the full results can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to develop. Collagen production is a gradual process that can’t be rushed, but the results are well worth the wait.
Erbium laser resurfacing results are permanent. In one treatment, you’ll have smooth, even skin that looks and feels new. But as with any treatment, proper aftercare is vital. Maintaining good skin habits ensures and protects your results. Always wear SPF and try avoiding direct sun exposure when possible. Minor damage to the skin and the natural aging process is unavoidable, so we recommend coming in for a yearly Erbium treatment to keep up your results.
