ThermiTight is a non-surgical procedure that uses radiofrequency technology to improve skin laxity, the technical term for loose, sagging skin. It's especially useful for improving the submental chin, jawline, and neck area—all places that show the first signs of aging.
BOOK NOWREQUEST APPOINTMENTThermiTight is a non-surgical procedure for the treatment of sagging, loose skin. During a ThermiTight treatment, radiofrequency energy (RF) in the form of heat is delivered to the tissue just below the skin using a special handheld probe. The heat is delivered at a specific therapeutic temperature, which creates a controlled injury to the treated tissue. The body responds by activating its natural healing process, boosting collagen production, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, and ultimately resulting in the generation of new, healthy tissue which is both plumped and tightened.
Collagen is a protein that is one of the main building blocks of our skin. It is responsible for holding our skin together and giving it that plump, youthful look. Elastin gives the skin “snap”, allowing it to bounce back when poked or pinched, like a rubber band. Finally, hyaluronic acid is a liquid compound found in the skin that improves hydration. Over time, due to the aging process as well as environmental factors such as sun exposure, diet, and lifestyle, our bodies produce less and less of these three things. ThermiTight can stimulate the body to produce all three by activating the body’s natural healing process. With just one ThermiTight treatment, you will see a visible improvement in your skin.
ThermiTight is excellent for treating sagging skin and diminished volume in the lower face. It is commonly used around the chin, jawline, and neck. But you can also treat other areas of the body that are showing signs of skin laxity.
ThermiTight is safe for all skin types, and most people need just one treatment. If you have sagging skin on the lower face, jowls, chin, or neck and are in good overall health, you are a good candidate for this procedure. If you are combining ThermiTight with another procedure, such as a facelift, mini facelift, or neck lift, it will be performed at the same time as the scheduled surgery.
The ThermiTight procedure is done in our on-site surgical suite and usually requires just local anesthesia for comfort, unless, of course, it is being performed along with another more extensive procedure. The skin is thoroughly cleansed, and Dr. Rice, our Board-Certified facial plastic surgeon, will make tiny incisions in the treatment area. A very thin cannula will be inserted to deliver the RF heat to the tissue. The temperature and location of the cannula are closely monitored throughout the procedure to ensure a safe and effective treatment. The incisions are small, so patients don’t require sutures unless, as stated above, the treatment is combined with another surgery. Recovery from ThermiTight is not especially difficult, but we will provide you with all the necessary aftercare instructions.
Most patients are able to return to normal activities right away, but this depends on the full scope of your treatment. We recommend you take it easy for 2-3 days after a ThermiTight procedure. Swelling and bruising can be significant and take between 2-4 weeks to completely heal. Following all of the aftercare instructions for your surgery or treatment will help ensure the best possible results and minimize any discomfort you might have.
Some patients notice a difference in their skin right away, but the majority start to see results in 30 days. Again, this depends on what else was coupled with your ThermiTight treatment. It takes time to see the results of ThermiTight because we are actually calling on your body to work its magic and heal the injury that was induced. This is what stimulates your body to produce more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid and rejuvenate the tissue that was damaged. While it takes approximately 3-6 months to reach optimal results, you will notice gradual improvements starting right away and lasting for years to come.
